Getting started Popular Do I need previous sales or recruitment experience?
No. Many of our top partners come from teaching, social media, community work or even student backgrounds. The certified training covers everything you need: Student Finance basics, foundation routes, scripts and ethics. If you're motivated and good with people, you can start as a Starter Partner from day one.
Payments Popular How and when am I paid?
Commission is paid by bank transfer (UK GBP) after a student enrols and Student Finance England confirms the funding. In most cases that's 4–8 weeks from the original referral. Every commission is tracked transparently in your Partner CRM. No hidden deductions, no clawbacks once an enrolment is confirmed.
Payments Is there a fee to become a UniStart Partner?
No. The UniStart Partner program is 100% free to join. There are no upfront fees, no monthly subscriptions, no platform charges. Training, CRM, materials and support are all included once your application is approved.
Eligibility Which students can I refer?
UK residents (or those with the legal right to study in the UK) aged roughly 18–55 who want to study a funded university course, typically with a foundation year route. The students must be eligible for Student Finance England. We can confirm eligibility on the onboarding call.
Eligibility Is the partner role exclusive to one region?
Not at Starter, Verified, Certified, Gold or Platinum tiers: you can refer students from anywhere in the UK. At Elite, top performers may opt into a Regional Partner agreement, which gives exclusive coverage of a city or region in exchange for performance commitments.
Getting started How long does the application + approval take?
Most applications are reviewed within 2 working days. After approval we schedule a 30-minute onboarding call. From application to your first referral usually takes under one week.
Operations Can I do this part-time alongside my current job?
Absolutely. Most of our partners start part-time. With 2–5 referrals per month, partners typically reach Verified or Certified tier within 3 months while keeping their day job. You set your own pace.
Operations Who actually closes the student? Me or UniStart?
You introduce and qualify. Our advisory team handles the formal university application and final enrolment, and guides students through the Student Finance process. You stay in the loop via your Partner CRM so you can keep the relationship warm without doing the paperwork.
